That happy, Terrier-like, slim dog seems to bear no resemblance to your lovely Doodle child.
That’s the first blow you have to deal with. If you are then also told that you should “brush your dog better next time” you feel totally defeated.
Once at home you mentally replay the whole scenario. You take a few deep breaths in disbelief, wondering “what did I do wrong”? “Where did it go wrong”?
For the majority of Doodle and Poodle mix breed owners, the first grooming experience often looks like this: a disillusionment for you and perhaps even a traumatic experience for your dog.
The story of Linda and Noara
This was also the case with Linda who was one of my first customers with her Doodle Noara in 2011 and who, being used to grooming a Retriever’s coat, thought a Doodle coat would be just as easy, until she realized it wasn’t that simple.
“We waited too long to get a good haircut and at some point the hair got so long that it started to tangle all over. Wet weather (what a summer . . . ) and a young guest dog that was played with all day aided the process. We had to think for a while whether we would do this grooming workshop. Because it is a major investment (the workshop, but also the necessary materials). But finally decided to do this. Wanda is calm and explains everything very patiently and calmly. This made our 5.5 month old Barbet pup very calm and everything went well. Can I really do it myself after this?
Of course! I teach you how to perform all skills in the right way so that you have that foundation. But since “practice makes perfect” applies here too, I recommend that you watch the videos over and over again and keep them next to you while you trim your Doodle. But the videos are made as if it is me standing next to you, giving you personal instructions; easy to follow for everyone. You will notice that it becomes easier for you every time and that you gain more and more confidence. Especially with the community at hand, where you can share photos and ask me your questions, you will notice that by implementing my points of improvement you will become better very quickly.
Is the video clear enough to see what you’re doing so I can copy it?
YES. At the time I insisted to the production company that they film everything in close up, in a clear way, because I wanted the whole trimming process to be taught from video.
Suppose I prefer to receive your coaching, is that also possible?

I can learn to shave anywhere. How does this course differ from all other Doodle DIY grooming courses?
If there even ARE comprehensive online Doodle DIY Grooming courses, most of them will teach you to trim your Doodle by shaving the entire body and legs or by using comb attachments. Or they will show you how to use straight, so-called poodle scissors to cut your Doodle in a very stylisch, unnatural way. These techniques don’t teach you how to make your Doodle look as fluffy as a pup again. This course however, teaches you how to work with special thinning shears, so that the coat not only remains nice and fluffy, but also the body and head remain beautifully natural looking. There are no other online training courses for this and you will not learn this on Youtube either.

This training also teaches you a special coat thinning technique that many other workshop providers do not know which makes ALL THE difference between a coat that needs to be shaved because of all the tangles and mats AND a beautiful, natural, tangle-free coat that is free to be trimmed beautifully fluffy.
